The next big step for anyone seeking a job in the information security industry is getting an employment security clearance (EAC).
If you have been working in the field for more than two years and have been given a job offer, there’s a good chance that it’s a secure position.
The EAC process takes several months and can take years, so it’s vital you are prepared.
Below are some of the steps you should take before you apply for an EAC.
Check out the job opening and see if there’s an ECA (Employment Security Certificate).
This is a special form of identification issued by the employer, usually for a specific position or for a certain job.
It’s also known as an EIS (Employee Identification System) and it’s usually a piece of paper.
If you’re not sure, ask the recruiter or HR manager.
If the job posting says “employment security” on the cover, check it out.
If it’s not there, go back to the job listing, check the job title and check the qualifications.
If there’s no ECA, or if the job offers a different position or is different in scope, it might be a different ECA process.
Read up on what an ECC does and why it’s important.
An ECC is a legally binding document that lays out the obligations and responsibilities of an employer in relation to your employment in the security field.
This document is typically used by employers to check that their processes are working and ensure that security measures are being put in place.
The document also tells you how the employer will deal with any issues that arise.
A good place to start is to read up on the various types of security clearances available to you, and learn about how you can apply for a different type.

Make sure you’ve got the correct security clearance.
An employer may need to request a security clearance in a number of different ways, depending on the nature of the job and what the employer has in mind.
If your EAC is required by law, you may be able to request an additional security clearance as part of the same employment application.
It is important that you get this security clearance before you start the process of applying for a new job, so you don’t miss out on any opportunities.
If an employer needs a new security clearance to change the position, it may also require you to have additional security clearings if you’re moving up the chain of command or if you have an existing security clearance and you’re applying for the new job.
Set up a security plan.
A security plan is a document you can use to record all of your relevant security clearenses, and to help you plan out the process for completing the EAC and applying for another security clearance when you’ve done all of the necessary work.
The security plan should be kept confidential, but if you want to be able use it, you can ask a member of your organisation to put it in a secure location.
This is especially important if you’ve previously worked in an insecure position and you’ve been unable to access the information in the plan.
This can happen if you need to change jobs or are moving up in the chain, or it could happen if the employer’s security team is unable to verify the security clearance you’ve received.
Submit your ECC.
The next step is to submit the ECC to NH.
Once you have the ECA and the security plan, you need a copy of it.
You can also submit it via the WorkSafe portal, which can be accessed by any person at any time.
You will need to have an internet connection and a valid e-mail address.
It will take approximately three to five working days to complete the process.
If this is a long process, you might be asked to provide more information or documents, such as your passport or other government issued documents.
If possible, you should be able get a copy in writing from a lawyer, accountant or other person with expertise in this area.
Submit a security audit.
The last step is for you to submit a security report to Nh.
You should do this within 30 working days of the start of the EACA process, but it can be longer if you require additional help from a human resource manager or HR person.
NH will check your report to see if any breaches have been detected, and it will advise you if you can request a second security audit within 60 working days.
If no breaches have occurred, it will notify you and give you an option to request another audit.
If any breaches occur, NH can provide additional assistance.
This will happen at your request.
