Why are US stocks down in the latest market rout
US stocks closed down in early trading on Friday, falling 3.8% to $26.99 a share in a day of major losses in the sector.
The S&P 500 was down 3.5% to 2,924.08, while the Nasdaq composite was down 1.3% to 6,869.26.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the Russell 2000 were down 3% each, the S&P 500 index was down 2.7% and the Nassey index was up 1.1%.
