Two men have been arrested and one dead after an assault on a mall in the northern city of Brest.
Two people were killed and two were injured in the attack, which occurred early on Monday morning.
The victims were identified as a 35-year-old man and a 23-year old woman, police said in a statement.
The incident took place at the Mall of France in the town of Bordeaux.
It was not immediately clear whether the men were members of the same gang.
It is the third attack to hit France in less than two months.
Earlier this month, a gunman attacked a tourist bar in the city of Rouen, killing four people.
The country has been on high alert since November 2015, when two Tunisian men tried to blow up a train at the railway station.
